This era of hip hop is dead, the only reason i still listen to hip hop is because of the underground artists & producers.

The only rappers who still show passion or any emotion for the music are underground rappers. They don't have the money to sit around and buy all these beats, pay all these other people just to ADVERTISE their music. They still rely on ways before the internet; where all the artist had was their musical talent so they must make sure that whatever they create is the best as can possibly be.

Same shit, different day....its tired!
This generation needs something new, just as Hip Hop started back in the day. Its too played out- no one I know gives a fuck about Hip Hop these days, & thats just sad.

no i dont think hip hop is dead or that it every will. its just in faze that older heads as my self dont feel as much as when it was fresh. lets remeber that hip hop has and will always be for the young. and hip hop will always eat its older up. ask any rapper from back in the day. which imo would destroy these dudes that are the so called coldest.
Yea i agree about the faze n hip hop being for the young ppl. But at the same time the quality and originality of today's artist is bad, and it's not just in Hip Hop. I hear the same complaints from fans in other genres too.
neva listened to none of that hip hop new york or eastcoast bullshit them niggas cant spit
You never listen to eastcoast hip hop, so how can u say they can spit? That's like me saying I neva listened to south rap because they all have repetitive lyrics & etc.... Which is not true cause i know afew south rappers who can spit and do not sound corny. For example Jay Electronica he's from New Orleans and dude can spit better than alot of mainstream rappers, Same goes for one of my other fav south rappers Scarface.
I listen to hip hop from all coasts.... maybe it's because I like more variety/style in my music....who knows

neva listened to none of that hip hop new york or eastcoast bullshit them niggas cant spit...i only listen to trap music or as pimp c say kuntry rap tunes and that shit keeps da 12's bangin
nigga you just fucked up. east coast sucks????? now you dont want me to get into how the south raps. lol, but seriously you may not like east rappers because most are lyrics orientated as oppose to the south where they are more beat & catch-phrase orientated. both have different styles and each suit people from those regions, but to say east coast rappers can't rap, thats just blatantly ignorant
i voted number 3..NIGGAS JUST NEED TO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LISTEN TO MUSIC YA FAVORITE ARTIST MAY NOT BE HOT NO MORE..DONT BE MAD JUST CUZ HE AINT HOT NO MORE AND HATE ON THE YOUNG NIGGAS ON THE COME UP & SAY ITS TRASH. CUZ FOR THE YOUNG NIGGAS LIKE MYSELF WE LIKE THE SO CALLED "TRASH" JUST LIKE YA OLD HEAD MUHFUCKAS WHEN YA WAS LISTENING TO MC LYTE & FUCKIN ERIC B & RAKIM YA PARENTS AND THE OLDER GENERATION WAS SAYING IT WAS "TRASH". ME MYSELF I LISTEN TO EVERYTHING I MAYB NOT BE A FAN OF AN ARTIST BUT IF HE HAS A HOT TRACK OUT IMMA BUMP IT SIMPLE AS THAT..THATS WHY I PICKED NUMBER 3
well coming from the young generation (im only 19 years old), its still garbage to me. but people are allowed to like whatever they like

Afterall, underground shit is still bringing the heat so I feel like the old ideas behind hip hip will survive underground. And for my haters, it's all about the dirty south lol!

First off, I wanna give props for the topic itself. Because I really think its something people should address because the government and shit just loves to downplay ALL Hip Hop and Rap based on the actions and lifestyles of some artists and that's fucked up. Personally, I'm not a big fan of a majority of mainstream artists because as many have said their drive behind the music is just to get money and not feed the youth a message. The greats like Tupac used to feed the youth the truth and shit. Today you have Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne rapping about some negative shit that won't feed them the reality of their life. HOWEVER, when I want to party and have a good time, I do listen to some of the hits out today. The thing is the genre is just about partying now, or it focuses on bragging and I don't see how that actually helps the youth if anything it just teaches us to be cocky (I'm 19). I guess I like the old school more, but I'm not completely against every artist in this new era.
Afterall, underground shit is still bringing the heat so I feel like the old ideas behind hip hip will survive underground. And for my haters, it's all about the dirty south lol!

Mainstream wise. Dead. There's tons of artists that makes the list that destroyed it. Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame, Lil' B, damn near the whole west coast, and parts of the east. It's just that your local radio station plays the same song over and over. We tend to forget that there's real music underneath that BS mainstream surface. No one talks about Big K.R.I.T., J. Cole, Pill, Black Thought, Dice Raw, P.O.R.N., Starlito, Don Trip, etc. Everyone too busy hyping up mainstream flop-hype success on certain forums.
