Meh. They're OK to look at, but anyone who has a hard time identifying themselves will be dangerously irrational. The last woman I spoke to from PR was beautiful. She was as dark as me, yet considered herself 'Hispanic'. When I told her online they'd consider her Black in the states, she blocked me.

 

I don't converse with people who're too afraid to identify with Africa because they're essentially afraid of being in association with me. I don't need a Navy Black PR chick pretending we're in an interracial relationship.

I'm glad that you're in agreement, but there's one thing in your last sentence that I have to address: "She's Black and PR"; that's not a mix. Black is a race, Puerto Rican is a nationality, it's just like someone saying I'm Black and American or I'm White and South African; nationality isn't indicative of a racial makeup. Many of the islanders I've met try to LIE to themselves and make nationality and race synonymous. Another unmentioned reason the girl from PR I was speaking to blocked me was because while she was telling me that she's 'Hispanic' and the 'race issue isn't as bad there as it is in the states', I reminded her that no one that looks like her owns/controls any power, wealth, or influence where she lives; that stark realization made her livid. The term 'Hispanic' in Black hands is used to vicariously bask in the accomplishments of those with less African ancestry as themselves; it's like a Black person in the states answering 'American' when you ask them their race, just so they can be in ASSOCIATION to the accolades, respect and accomplishments of EVERYONE ELSE THERE.
