So my question is what constitutes cheating? Does it have to be the actual act of having sexual relations with someone or does it include sexting, emails, etc.?

I feel if it isn't something you can tell your significant other, then it's cheating. It can be mental, physical, or even emotional.

It was told to me from one of my exes, that kissing down to hugging can be considered cheating.  Definitely if you can't do it with your significant other next to you, then it aint kosher.

 

But i think a better explanation would be "attention"..  If someone has your attention, either with ill intent or harmless.  thats cheating. Im never one to do anything halfway.... so you might as well fuck if you gonna get in trouble all the same

That's a good question! I guess its different with every relationship. But doing anything with someone of the opposite sex that disrespect the relationship could be a good blanket definition

I know, I guess each has their own opinions on the subject  emotional women might call it emotional cheating. I mean I don't know that's why I ask. I'm just curious on how men feel about it. But @devil do you agree with the others in that if it is something you wouldn't feel comfortable doing near your partner?

Cheating, in my humble opinion doesn't [really] fundamentally revolve around your sensibilities.  Wherein it is reasonable to assume that you're more attuned to the sensibilities of your partner than anyone else, and it should be easy for you to discern what may miff them, if your act of indiscretion falls short of what your partner would account for as a slight, you haven't really done anything.

 

I'll give you an example:  if I have a very emotionally intimate relationship with a female friend of mine who I've know forever and a day, and I continually communicate to this person my deepest feelings.  .  .  I still may not have cheated; if my partner is fine with it, then what may be thought of as a taboo by another person is written off as a normal behavior of mine.  

 

Still, if that relationship segues into something physical, then that may be an anathema, but I've seen friends of mine with relationships where they were bed-hopping every other night and it was fine with their woman.  The moment that they had an emotional indiscretion, though?  The chopping block. 

 

It just depends.

true. my ex (key word) schooled me on that. i tried being loose in front of her to see how much i could get away with. that didn't last too long.

Yes anything your girl don't know that involves any touching of another girl in a more than friendly way is cheating
