    Ranks and Such Part 1

    Ranks Explained!

Okay, so now you understand the theme. This is an explanation and guide to everything enlisted. By Enlisted we mean non-commissioned HGN officers. To go further, this ranking structure applies to those who didn't go through the academy or didn't go through OCS (Officer Candidate School).

So to revisit where we left off, when a user joins the site and selects the usergroup HGN [Bootcamp], they are essentially becoming an enlisted member on HGF, and in the HGN. Once they met all requirements in boot-camp and graduate (usually replying to a topic, or introducing yourself) they become an E-1 or Recruit. E-1 stands for enlisted, and the 1 stands for, well its 1, as in the first rank.

These are the following HGN Enlisted Navy Ranks:

    [E-1.Recruit] Reaches E-2 with (3 Post's or 5 Thanks)

    Posted Image [E-2.Jr Sailor] Reaches E-3 with (50 Post's or 100 Thanks)

    Posted Image [E-3.Sr Sailor] Reaches E-4 with (110 Post's or 3200 Thanks)

    Posted Image [E-4.Petty Officer 3rd Class] PO3 NCO/Considered an Established Sailor/Freak (Reaches E-5 190 Post's or 5500 Thanks)

    Posted Image [E-5.Petty Officer 2nd Class] PO2 NCO/Considered a Veteran Sailor/Freak (Reaches E-6 245 Post's or 9000 Thanks)

    Posted Image [E-6.Petty Officer 1st Class] PO1 NCO/Considered a Respected Sailor/Freak (Eligible for E-7 500 Post's or 25000 Thanks)

*BIG ASS DISCLAIMER: Just because you have made the stats for a rank, does not mean it will happen if you are E-4 and Above. You have to wait for an advancement cycle (usually every month or so), 2. Increase your chances of beating out all the others who have the same rank as you (as promotion spots are limited), 3. Take the time to make your account standout (Get Warfare Pins, Earn Medals, Participate in Events and Campaigns, and Most Important. Request to join a Dept or transfer to another command.

*If you don't know how, ask an Officer or a Chief, and they will help you get orders.

Posted Image[E-7.Chief] Chief/CPO NCO/Highly Respected/Expert Freaks. They are considered Sr Management on the forum.
(Chief's are Chosen from Eligible E-6 Sailors/Freaks by a Selection Process of other Chiefs.

Posted Image[E-8.Senior Chief] Senior Chief/SCPO NCO/Highly Respected/Expert Freaks. They are considered Sr Management on the forum.
(Senior Chief's are Chosen from the E-7 Ranks by a Selection Process of other Senior Chiefs.

Posted Image[E-9.Master Chief] Master Chief/MCPO NCO/Highly Respected/Expert Freaks. They are considered Sr Management on the forum.
(Master Chief's are Chosen from the E-8 Ranks by a Selection Process of other Master Chiefs.

*E-1 through E-3 are considered junior level sailors/freaks. When members reach E-4 they are now Petty Officers which are Non-Commissioned Officers. Petty Officers are considered senior members on the site. They are known for either being establisted, veterans, or respected. Members are encouraged to try to join two groups asap to earn warfare pins to become respected and other medals and ribbons.

*E-5/Veterans or PO2's are considered junior leaders in the forum. They take charge and help members when they can. At the rank of E-5, members have the ability to do a lot of things on the forum. These would include, apply to become an Officer or Request to join/transfer to an elite command.

*E-6/Respected or PO1's are considered top members not only on the forum, but on the site and in community in general. They have earned at least one warfare pin, and more than likely many medals, awards, and ribbons.

*E-7 through E-9 are considered technical experts/leaders on the site. When sailors/freaks reach E-6/PO1 they will be reviewed by current E-7's/E-8's and E-9's (Chiefs, Senior Chiefs, and Master Chiefs). Once every month, a selection board is conducted of all the E-6's who are eligible for being selected for advancement to E-7 and the Chiefs, Senior Chiefs, and Master Chiefs select a limited number E-6's who have went above and beyond, made valuable contributions, provided great discussions on the site. E-6's or PO1's who have racked up warfare pins, medals/ribbons/awards, have a high reputation and thanks counts usually stand the chance of being selected by the selection board. Once a E-6 has been selected by the board, they complete a number of task specified by the Chiefs Mess (Combination of sites Chiefs, Senior Chiefs and Master Chiefs), this is similar to an induction or hazing process. Once this period is over, that E-6 is pinned as a Chief Petty Officer on the site and is no longer known by their username. If they were Joe365, they are now referred to Chief Joe365 or just Chief. The Selection Board process applies to Chiefs and Senior Chiefs who wish to move up. Chiefs are generally leaders, in there specific commands/groups and work hand in hand with the staff of the site, not just the group.

*You may say, why all this emphasis on Chief's. Well in the navy there are no E-7's, there are Chief's. Rather its a Chief, Senior Chief, or Master Chief. Chief's are by far the most respected rank on the site. To make Chief is not easy. You are selected by your peers, and called one of their own. Chief's worked for it, and earned it. E-6's cannot and wont even be looked at for Chief if they don't have a warfare pin of any sort, or any medals for that matter.

E-7 Chiefs are referred to as Chief or their name (example: Chief Jonnyz69)

E-8 Senior Chiefs are referred to as "Senior", Senior Chief, or (example: Senior Chief Jonnyz69)

E-9 Master Chiefs are referred to as Master Chief, or (example: Master Chief Jonnyz69)

Since the Chief ranks are the most respected ranks on the site, their rank cannot be removed, and a Chief cannot be demoted. Chiefs choose there own, and protect their own. The Chief ranks also unlock hidden forums, and give the user more permissions and abilities on the site.

*Just because a user finally made Chief, the most saught after and hardest rank to achieve, he or she may not want to continue on the enlisted side, or they may wish to pursue new challenges. Some time after making Chief, a member go officer. They do not need to apply, just put in a request. They have two options for becoming a commissioned officer. 1st option is to stay a technical expert in whatever they ranked up in, and become a Chief Warrant Officer through OCS (Officer Candidate School). The second option is become a regular line/LDO officer, with no restrictions and go to the HGF[Academy] and get commissioned as a HGF Naval Officer. The Chief is no longer a Chief after OCS, or the Academy, they are what ever Officer rank they are commissioned as. They do however retain all medals, awards, ribbons, statuses, and warfare pins.
